Now the Business Operations Leader of Law Essentials, Michael previously practiced as a Solicitor from 1988 until 2009. Michael commenced legal
practice in 1988, focusing on commercial,
litigation and fisheries areas. He is routinely
contracted by commercial fishing interest
groups to lobby Government in relation to
Fishing Legislation, and actively involved
with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
Restructure Package, representing more
than 100 commercial fishing clients. A
measure of his expertise is his successful
defence of many of the significant
commercial fishing prosecution cases in
Queensland in the last decade.
Michael’s focus remains caring for our customers, however his time is largely spent managing the business and searching for business improvement and growth opportunities. In an effort to develop his business leadership skills, Michael has participated in business leadership executive training courses at Stanford Business School in California in 2008 and Harvard Business School in 2009.
As active outside the practice, as he is at
the office, Michael thrives on high energy
pursuits such as basketball, surfing, touch
football, running and team triathlon. |

Kate Roberts

A born and bred-Sydney girl, Kate was admitted as a solicitor in 1997 in New South Wales and went on to specialise in Civil and Commercial litigation in Sydney. After starting a family, Kate also started her own private practice which she combined with a career as a legal costs consultant. After working for some years in Canada, she moved to the Sunshine Coast where she established her own practice again and worked as the principal of that firm for some years, before joining Law Essentials in 2011. Her focus is on Commercial and Family law.
When not at work, Kate enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Being a bookworm, her most prized material possession is her Kindle. She says she is a try-hard pianist and an ever-hopeful tennis player. |

Kayla Walsh

Kayla joined our team in December 2006 following 3 years prior legal experience with a local law firm.
In November 2007 Kayla completed 4 years of study and in May 2008 graduated from Southern Cross University with an Associate Law Degree.
Kayla plays an integral role in our Commercial Team by working in general Commercial Law, Wills, Estate Administration as well as assisting with Family Law.
Life outside work is a happy mix of good times spent relaxing with her husband Michael and a wonderful group of family and friends. |

Natalie Starkey

Nat joined the team in September 2010 following four years prior experience at a local law firm assisting clients in buying and selling properties.
Her aim is to make the process of every transaction as smooth and stress free as possible for every client. Nat aims to provide clients with a professional service whilst keeping them informed through every step of the conveyancing process.
Outside of work, Nat enjoys kicking back with friends, working on her newly built home and travelling to places she hasn’t been before to discover new and exciting things. |

Tanya has been with the firm since it first started in July 1997.
She worked as a full time receptionist/office manager until June 2003, and has been working on a casual basis for the past three years in between starting a family.
Her versatility in the administration hub of the practice allows her to apply her skills across reception, general admin, some PA work and holiday/sick relief work. |

Belinda Rimmington

Business Resource Manager |
Bel originally joined the Gympie team as a full-time receptionist and admin assistant in 2006, she soon made the move into the accounts assistant position and then onto the Accounts Manager role where she was able to put her great head for figures to excellent use. In her current role of Business Resource Manager she has used her growing skill base to allow her to manage the IT & Systems Support and Development within the firm as well as deal with Human Resource requirements and continue to oversee the Accounts section of the business.
Outside of work Bel can be found catching up with family and friends and enjoying the good things in life. She is an avid supporter of her husband’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training and occasionally joins in for some fun and fitness. She also adores animals and is found spending lots of time with her beloved pets. |

Kara Pascoe

Accounts Manager |
Kara joined the Gympie Team as a Trainee in January 2008, completing a Certificate III in Business Administration. She excelled in her position as an Accounts Assistant and has since become the Accounts Manager. Her current position includes managing the everyday accounts and assisting the rest of the team with administration tasks.
Outside of work, Kara can be found enjoying the outdoors with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys hitting up the gym and any activity that keeps her fit and healthy.

Megan Perry

Client Service Officer |
In August 2009, Megan joined the Law Essentials Team becoming our main receptionist and administration clerk. Her job consists of greeting clients with her friendly smile, answering and directing all incoming calls. Megan also attends to all other day to day administration duties.
On the weekend Megan enjoys motorbike riding, swimming and catching up with family and friends.
